MY FIRST POND KIT
HOW TO INSTALL
Children of all ages love being outdoors, exploring and learning about wildlife so why not help them interact with nature by creating their very own small, natural wildlife pond.

My First Pond Kit includes everything you need to get started.

MY FIRST POND KIT INCLUDES:
- PVC Pond Liner – 2.5m x 2m
- Fountain Pump – 1000 lph
- Tap Water Conditioner – 250ml
- Barley Straw Mini Bale
- Pond Fish Net
- Magnifying Glass
- Pond Dipping Guide Book
STEP 1
Find a suitable location with partial shade but not underneath a tree because this will accumulate debris.

Dig a hole and remove any loose stones or sharp rocks that could puncture the PVC liner.

Shape the hole to create a gentle gradient which will encourage wildlife to enter the pond.

STEP 2
Make sure to layer the hole with either sand or soft fleece as this will protect the PVC pond liner in the ground.

Position the PVC liner in the hole, stretch it out and remove any creases for a neat finish.

Use slate or large rocks to support the liner and create a natural edge.

STEP 3
Connect the pump to create an attractive fountain which will also add vital oxygen to the pond.
STEP 4
Use marginal and pond plants to create an attractive ecosystem.

We’ve used Hippuris vulgaris and Mentha aquatica as they are fast growing, absorb nutrients and provide shade and retreat for underwater creatures.

STEP 5
Add the barley straw once the pond is complete as this will provide a natural and safe way to reduce green algae.

The tap water conditioner will remove any harmful chlorine, making the tap water safe for wildlife.

STEP 6
Now let the pond establish and you will be amazed at how quickly this new feature will attract native wildlife.

Use your net and magnifying glass to carefully explore your nature pond and learn all about these fascinating underwater creatures with the pond dipping booklet included.
