HOW TO MAKE

You will also need an adult to help you

STEP 1
To begin, take one gingerbread man shape for the front of your Little Helper.

Next, thread the needle with the brown cotton.

Take a black felt eye and double stitch into place.

Push the needle from behind into the felt eye, thread back through the front of the eye.

Repeat this step before tying a knot and carefully cut the cotton at the back.

TOP TIP: You can use PVA glue.

STEP 2
Thread the needle with the red cotton.

Sew the red cotton onto the Gingerbread man to create a smiley mouth using a running stitch.

HOW TO: Pass the needle in and out of the fabric at a regular distance to create a running stitch. `{`Insert animated diagram`}`

TOP TIP: You can use a marker pen.

STEP 3
Thread the needle with the red or brown cotton.

Take one of the buttons and double stitch into place.

Push the needle from behind into the button, thread back through the front of the button.

Repeat this step before tying a knot and carefully cut the cotton at the back.

STEP 4
Measure and carefully cut the white ribbon into four equal lengths.

Thread the needle with the brown cotton.

TOP TIP: You can use PVA glue.

Sew a double stitch at each end of the ribbon to secure on both arms and legs.

Push the needle from behind the ribbon, thread back through the front.

Repeat this step before tying a knot and carefully cut the cotton at the back.

STEP 5
Carefully cut 15cm of the red and white gingham ribbon and fold over to create your hanging loop.

Thread the needle with the brown cotton.

Double stitch the ribbon into place firmly to create a loop and then tie a knot and carefully cut the cotton at the back.

STEP 6
Thread the needle with the red cotton.

With the remaining red and white gingham ribbon, tie a bow and stitch into place through the middle of the ribbon.

Push the needle from behind the bow, thread back through the front. Repeat this a couple of times before tying a knot and carefully cut the cotton at the back.

STEP 7
Thread the needle with the brown cotton.

Sew both gingerbread man shapes together around the edges using a running stitch starting at the legs working up to the head.

TOP TIP: You can use PVA glue.

STEP 8
Complete the running stitch around the edge to close and finish your Gingerbread Man.

TOP TIP: You can use a pencil to poke the stuffing evenly.
