Bermuda MY FIRST POND KIT
Children of all ages love being outdoors, exploring and learning about wildlife so this half term we’re giving your little explorers the chance to win their very own Bermuda My First Pond Kit, worth £100.

To enter the competition, complete the colouring page and drop it into our team at The Garden Society Till Point. You can either download here or collect from our team in store when you next pop in. Entries are limited to one entry per child under 16.

The competition starts Wednesday 21st May 2025. All entries close at 17:00 on Tuesday 27th May 2025.

We will DM and announce the winner on our Instagram account @the_garden_society at 10:00 on Wednesday 28th May 2025.

There can only be one winner which will be chosen by our impartial judging panel from all valid entries.

The winner will have 72 hours to respond to our message. If they don’t respond in this time another winner will be picked and chosen at random.

Please note this prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative is available.

MY FIRST POND KIT INCLUDES:
Encourage little explorers to interact with nature by creating their very own small, natural wildlife pond. The Bermuda My First Pond Kit is easy to set up and includes everything you need to get started.

- PVC Pond Liner – 2.5m x 2m

STEP 1
Find a suitable location with partial shade but not underneath a tree because this will accumulate debris.

Dig a hole and remove any loose stones or sharp rocks that could puncture the PVC liner.

Shape the hole to create a gentle gradient which will encourage wildlife to enter the pond.

STEP 2
Make sure to layer the hole with either sand or soft fleece as this will protect the PVC pond liner in the ground.

Position the PVC liner in the hole, stretch it out and remove any creases for a neat finish.

Use slate or large rocks to support the liner and create a natural edge.

Connect the pump to create an attractive fountain which will also add vital oxygen to the pond.

Use marginal and pond plants to create an attractive ecosystem.

We’ve used Hippuris vulgaris and Mentha aquatica as they are fast growing, absorb nutrients and provide shade and retreat for underwater creatures.

Add the barley straw once the pond is complete as this will provide a natural and safe way to reduce green algae.

The tap water conditioner will remove any harmful chlorine, making the tap water safe for wildlife.

Now let the pond establish and you will be amazed at how quickly this new feature will attract native wildlife.
